The visa processing time for Canada’s visitor visa has reached a new high of nearly 6 months.

Canada Visa Processing Times

The most recent update indicates that it could take up to 164 days to obtain a temporary residence visa for anyone applying from India in order to visit, study, or work in Canada.

The above-mentioned link allows our readers outside of India to check the length of time it takes to process visas for their particular countries.

This processing time indicates how long it took us in the past to process most complete applications. If your application is incomplete, it may be delayed or returned.

Your processing time begins when we receive your complete application and ends when we reach a decision. It may vary depending on the number of applications received.

According to IRCC, the processing times will vary based on:

  • the type of application submitted
  • if the application is complete
  • how quickly do we expect to process applications we’ve already received
  • how easily we can verify your information
  • how long do you take to respond to any requests or concerns?
  • other factors

It is important to note that a temporary resident visa, which is also known as a Visitor Visa, is required for foreign nationals to stay in Canada for a short period of time, usually 6 months or less, for a variety of reasons such as tourism, business, and family visits, among others.
