The Taiwanese government recently announced a new programme to revitalise the tourism industry, which has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme is intended to provide financial incentives to individual tourists and tour groups in order to encourage domestic travel and help the struggling tourism industry.

Cash Incentive for Individual Tourists

According to a report by CNN, the Taiwanese government will hand out NT$5,000 (Rs 13,600) to 500,000 individual tourists. These handouts can be used to cover transportation, lodging, and other costs associated with domestic travel.

The goal of this initiative is to encourage more Taiwanese citizens to explore their own country, support local businesses, and enjoy Taiwan’s many attractions.

Allowances for Tour Groups

In addition to handouts for individual tourists, the Taiwanese government is providing NT$20,000 (Rs 54,500) allowances to 90,000 tour groups.

Tourists will be given these allowances digitally, and they will be able to use them to cover transportation, lodging, and other travel-related expenses.

The government hopes that by launching this initiative, more people will travel in groups, boosting the economy and creating more job opportunities in the tourism industry.

Stimulating the Economy and Creating Jobs

This new program’s primary goal is to stimulate the economy and create more job opportunities in the tourism sector. Taiwan’s Premier Chen Chien-Jen has stated his desire to increase tourist numbers, estimating 10 million visitors by 2025.

The tourism industry is an important part of Taiwan’s economy, creating jobs and contributing to the country’s GDP. The COVID-19 pandemic, on the other hand, has resulted in a significant drop in tourism, leaving many businesses and workers struggling to make ends meet.

The government hopes that this new programme will provide much-needed assistance to the industry and aid in its recovery from the pandemic’s impact.

The Taiwan government’s new programme is a significant step towards assisting the tourism industry, which has been struggling since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Individual and tour group financial incentives are expected to encourage more people to travel within the country, support local businesses, and create job opportunities in the tourism sector.
