The embassy’s announcement aligns with the U.S. Mission’s earlier projections at the start of this year’s student visa application process.
Brendan Mullarkey, the acting minister counsellor for consular affairs in India, emphasized in June that, “Last year, a record-breaking 125,000 Indians were issued student visas, surpassing all other nationalities.”
With over 90,000 student visas issued during the summer months, the United States seems poised to set yet another record in the near future.

Strengthening Educational Ties
In a bid to enhance collaboration in the education sector, India and the U.S. have recently agreed to establish a virtual institute.
his initiative was announced following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a bilateral meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 Summit held in New Delhi earlier this month.
This remarkable achievement not only highlights the enduring educational ties between India and the United States but also augments the global recognition of India’s significant role in international education. The future holds great promise for continued collaboration and academic excellence between these two nations.
