The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) extended the deadline for H1-B visa registration on Friday, March 17 after many users complained about technical glitches during the initial registration period.
Some users were unable to complete the registration process yesterday, according to USCIS. The agency took to Twitter to announce that the technical issue has been fixed and that it will now accept registrations until 5:00 pm ET on Monday, March 20, 2023.
“Yesterday some users were not able to complete the H-1B registration process. USCIS has fixed this technical issue & will now accept registrations until 5:00 pm ET Monday, March 20, 2023. Please note any paid & completed registrations were not affected by this technical issue,” said the USCIS in a Tweet.

The H-1B electronic registration process has already begun, and those seeking to hire H-1B employees must register and provide basic information about each proposed employee as well as the potential petitioner.
H-1B visas are work permits that allow foreign workers to come to the United States and work for American companies. They are primarily used by technology companies to hire highly skilled tech talent from other countries.

Registration Process for H-1B Visas
To apply for an H-1B visa, first, create a USCIS online account and then submit registrations using a “registrant” account within myUSCIS. However, registrants will be unable to provide additional information until the initial registration period opens.
For the first H-1B registration, registrants must submit their company’s details, and a non-refundable fee of $10 is required for each registration.
Implications of the Extension
The extension of the registration deadline is welcome news for those who were unable to complete the process during the initial registration period due to technical difficulties.
The USCIS is committed to giving all registrants equal opportunities, and the extension will allow them to complete the registration process and participate in the H-1B visa lottery.
The H-1B visa programme is critical for US businesses, particularly those in the technology sector, in order to attract and retain skilled foreign workers.
The extended registration deadline will ensure that all applicants have an equal opportunity to obtain an H-1B visa and contribute to the growth of the American economy.
